Vino la crisis, su pareja perdió su empleo. Él perdió el suyo. Los meses fueron pasando y tuvieron que vender el cochazo que, ¡vaya!, ahora valía mucho menos de lo que pagaron por él.

Finalmente el coche se fue y entonces se pusieron a pensar cómo resolverían los casi 30 años de pagos por venir. 30 años…

El momento de pensar debió haber sido antes. Pero cuando se contrató la hipoteca solo se pensó:

“Su compañera gana menos que él y se compró un piso”;

“Su vecina se compró una casita en la playa”;

“¡Qué deportivo se había comprado su cuñado”

“la cuota de la hipoteca era inferior a un alquiler”.

Pero resultó que la compañera solo pasó a ser dueña de una deuda, al igual que la vecina y el cuñado. Y la cuota fue menor que el alquiler pero cuando ya no pudo ser pagada, el banco se quedó con el piso y ellos con la deuda. Ya no tenían coche, ni casa, pagaban nuevamente alquiler y además una cuota para ir saldando la deuda. Y claro, con tantos disgustos y preocupaciones la pareja comenzó a resquebrajarse.

Pensaron que todo sería diferente.

No se pensó en que tal vez el ascenso no llegaría. No se pensó en que el empleador quebraría.

No se pensó en que los precios en el mercado inmobiliario caerían en picado.

No se pensó en que si entre la Primera y la Segunda Guerra Mundial solo habían pasado 20 años, comprometerse a un plazo de 30 años era muy desatinado.

No se pensó.

¿De quién fue la culpa?, ¿de los bancos?

Pues ellos fueron a por su negocio. Al igual que los ladrones. Al igual que los constructores, los fontaneros o los lustrabotas. Si pescan algún idiota que pague 30 por sacarle brillo a unos zapatos, pues bien logrado está. Cada cual intenta sacar lo más que pueda. Porque la culpa, señores, señoras, señoros y demás géneros, “la culpa no es del cerdo sino de quien le da de comer”.
